Our Mission: K9 Rescue of VA is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs of all breeds and breed mixes. We work diligently to place dogs that have become homeless or abandoned into loving forever homes. K9 Rescue of VA is also dedicated to educating the public on pet safety, training, health (including spay/neuter/shots), and breed specific placement. About Us: K9 Rescue of VA is a small rescue group made up of volunteers. We rescue dogs from high kill shelters from a number of states including, West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. Our focus is on saving lives in a responsible and humane manner. Once we have rescued a shelter dog we take the following steps to provide them with the love, respect, and dignity they deserve:
* Health assessment and veterinary care as needed including shots, spay/neuter, worming, wound care, ect..
* Behavior assessment and any necessary training
* Grooming as needed
K9 Rescue of VA is available to set up a pet safety table at your local fair, festival, or any other appropriate gathering. Pet safety is key to keeping your new family member out of the emergency animal hospital and keeping him/her happy as well as reducing stress for the family.
How you can help K9 Rescue of VA:
Foster - K9 Rescue of VA is limited by the number of foster homes that are available. The more fosters we have the more dogs we can pull from the high kill shelters. What a great way to get familiar with different breeds to see what breed is right for you and your family. Or to provide love, attention, and a safe environment for a dog that has been treated poorly or is missing his family and confused after being lost or abandoned. And to share in the joy of seeing that scared dog come out of his/her shell and reach their full potential as we search for the perfect forever home for them to thrive in. We provide crate, vet care, and food while the dog is in your care.
Donate - K9 Rescue of VA is working towards obtaining their 501 (c) (3) status and becoming a non profit organization. We are always in need of monetary donations of any size to help with the rescue and care of these animals. More often than not the expenses for the care of these animals exceeds the amount of money we receive as adoption fees or donations once they find their forever homes. Donations of any size are welcome. No donation is too small.
'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' ~Matthew 25:40

We are in the process of building this webpage and adding our dogs to the adoptables, happy endings, and memorial pages so come back often to see what is new.
